Following a public hearing, the Perry City Council approved the fiscal year 2014 budget at last night’s meeting.

Estimated revenues for the city’s general fund are just under $3,460,000 – which is a 1.5% increase from the current fiscal year.  Among the revenues are an estimated $743,000 from the Road Use Tax Fund, grants from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau the Environmental Protection Agency and Iowa Economic Development Authority.

All city fees such as sewer, garbage collection, cemetery and building permits will remain the same during the upcoming fiscal year.  Though the City plans to institute a rental fee of $5 per month for commercial recycling customers who use cardboard dumpsters.  That money will then be used to purchase more dumpsters if needed and replace current ones when necessary.

Total anticipated revenues for the city during the next fiscal year are nearly $9.2 million.
