The Greene County Community Center is bringing back an old tradition of an exercise equipment garage sale.
Director Vicky Lautner explains that this event has been successful in the past, but due to the transition period of directors and the busy event schedules in January and February, it got put on the back burner. She felt this now is a great time to have an event like this because soccer, track, baseball and softball are starting.
For the past two weeks, the public donated athletic items to the garage sale. Lautner points out that they usually accept a wide variety of items unless those items have holes in clothes or are in really bad shape. She says they have had specific requests for this year’s sale.
“We’ve had requests for cleats for soccer, track shoes, baseball gloves and sometimes we get baseball pants. And this money that we make goes towards our programs so we can buy more equipment.”
Some of the items purchased in years past have been dodgeballs, men’s and women’s basketballs and soccer balls.
The event is tomorrow from 9am-1pm at the back conference room of the community center. Call Vicky Lautner at 386-3412 for more information.
