The Jamaica City Council, following a hearing at their meeting last month, approved the 2013/2014 budget.  The tax rate was set at $10,843.38 per thousand on regular property and $3.00 on agricultural land.

Last fall the City published notice to clean up two abandoned trailers.  Mayor LaDonna Kennedy stated that since no action has been taken, the City could proceed with removing these abandoned trailers.

Citywide cleanup was set for April 29.

Bill Wilson gave a report on the fire department.  There were a total five calls for the fire department.  They now have a new member who has the necessary credentials and recently participated with the department in a scene management class.  It was also reported that the responder van has been repaired.
