There’s a new Village Post Office opening up in Minburn next week.
Minburn Communications at 416 Chestnut Street will host a grand opening ceremony Thursday April 11th.
The new office will be open from 8am to 12:30pm and 1:30-3:45pm during the week, which compliment’s the Minburn Post Office’s regular afternoon hours.
The U.S. Postal Service introduced the VPO model as an expanded retail location for postal products and services, especially in rural communities. Typically they’re operated by local businesses contracting with the Postal Service and they offer a range of products and services including stamps and flat-rate packaging.
Jim Hermann, manager of the agency’s Des Moines based Hawkeye District, says “the location of the Minburn Communications building will provide postal customers added convenience and is an important example of how the Postal Service is changing to better meet America’s needs”.
The grand opening takes place April 11th at 1pm and is open to the public.
