The Paton-Churdan Middle School Band would like to invite the public to its Solo Festival tomorrow.

Secondary Music Teacher Hillary Boogerd says that every student in the sixth through eighth grade band is required to do one solo.  She explains that its a time for the students to show how much they’ve learned and to grow in confidence to play by yourself in front of others.

Boogerd states that she gives her students options of different solos to give them a chance to see what they are comfortable with.  Since there are a wide range of skill levels, it should make for an exciting festival Boogerd adds.

There will be a total of 27 students performing solos on Saturday featuring flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, alto saxophones and snare drums.

The free event will be from 10am-3pm at the auditorium at the K-12 building in Churdan with lunch provided from the music boosters for a free will donation.
