Bayard City officials, in an effort to encourage residents to take pride in their property and to get rid of junk that looks unsightly to visitors to the community, are taking action early to notify them of the annual spring clean up.  Spring clean up is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4.  Council member Dick Stone is in charge of the efforts and urges all residents to get motivated and clean up the town.

Three large roll off containers, clearly marked for the various types of discarded materials allowed, have been rented and will be placed near the City shed, just east of Main Street.

No tree limbs, yard or garden waste will be accepted.

Tires, computers, TVs and other electronics should not be placed in the roll off containers.  These items are accepted at the landfill for a disposal fee.

Residents will be allowed to haul their own load of discarded items to the Guthrie County landfill.  A coupon will be published in your local newspaper on April 18 and can be used as a free pass to the landfill once signed off by Bayard Maintenance Official Jim Jones.

Stone feels they are giving folks plenty of advance notice.  There is absolutely no reason why residents can’t clean up their property; they can start now and get things out for clean up the first week end in May Stone added.

Bayard City officials agree and advise residents that if properties are not ridded of unsightly debris, they will take action to get the work done.
