The ADM boys’ soccer squad had an entertaining trip battling DSM East last night.

The freshmen squad lost 2-4, the JV drew 2-2 and the varsity won 2-1 and are now 5-2 on the season.

The freshman struggled against a much bigger and much more experienced DSM East squad.

Both ADM goals were scored by Ethan Kaney. The first goal was scored while he pressed past two DSM East defenders before scoring. The second goal was assisted on a pass by Ben Trent.

In the JV game the Tigers fell behind but came back to score twice through Tyger Bottenfield. The first goal came after Robby Sloss stole the ball from a DSM East opponent and assisted it to Tyger who volleyed it high into the net. For his second goal, Tyger followed up a tough Spencer Benton shot which the goalkeeper palmed down and Tyger then recovered and transitioned the ball over the line. Brett Buscher was outstanding in the ADM goal.

In the varsity game the Tigers fell behind to an unfortunate own goal half way through the first half. As the first half began to wind down ADM began to dominate possession and managed to create a number of scoring opportunities. They then scored twice within a minute, very close to the end of the half. For the first Derek Gushiken won the ball in midfield and pushed it ahead of Jake Hutzell. Jake’s defender slipped and in a few quick paces Jake had possession and drove the ball under the goalkeeper and into the net. Less than a minute later Noah Bardwell lobbed the ball over two defenders and Jake brushed off a third defender before matriculating the ball into the left hand corner of the goal. DSM East dominated possession in the second half but the Tiger defense stood tough and, with the help of several miraculous saves from Darold Baker, held on for a thrilling victory.

The next games for ADM are on Thursday when the freshmen take on West Central Valley at 4pm on the practice field, and the JV and varsity host Ballard on the ADM Stadium. This will also be senior night for the boys’ soccer squad.
