The Greene County Supervisors met yesterday in its weekly session.

Jefferson Matters: Main Street Director Alan Robinson updated the Board on its upcoming events.  He spoke about the visionary meeting that will happen on May 7th 5pm in the City Hall Council Chambers.  The purpose of the meeting is look years in advance of where Jefferson and Main Street Iowa could be.  There is also an awards ceremony at Des Moines’ Events Center on May 17th for Main Street Iowa.  Robinson said they were nominated for a few awards and will be attending it.

Doug Hawn with Scranton Community Center asked the Supervisors for additional funding to resurface and refinish the gym floor in the facility.  He stated to the Board that it would be a total of $10,500 project and that they’ve raised $4,000-$5,000 already.  The Supervisors approved $5,000 from the Louis Dreyfus Fund as a one-time expense to the project.

County Treasurer Donna Lawson presented to the Board her investment and driver’s license report for March.  The total amount of county investments for March was $8,031,789.56.  The Treasurer’s office issued 263 driver’s licenses for a total of $3,918.  The total number of driver’s licenses for the year is 757 and $11,575 were collected.

The Board also approved a resolution to transfer the final $480,000 from the rural basic fund to the secondary roads fund for the fiscal year 2013.

Finally, Unisyn gave a demonstration of its voting equipment that the county is considering purchasing before the next general election.  The total cost discussed during the presentation was $7,500 per machine package over the next three years if purchased this year.  The company would give the county a three-year interest free program.
