Less than 24 hours after getting shut out, the Perry baseball team exploded for 15 runs in securing their first win of the season by knocking off Denison Schleswig 15-6 in non conference action. The Bluejays scored three times in the third and led 10-2 by the end of the fifth inning. Perry scored five times in the seventh to secure the win. Perry finished with 10 hits and committed only one error. Sophomore Will Whiton finished 2-2 with a double and a triple and 6 RBI’s, and Michael Lansing knocked in 3 with a double. Freshman Blake Lansing also connected for a double. Jeremiah Ellett picked up the win going 5 1/3 allowing 5 hits, 6 runs and 3 strikeouts. Can Finn and Blake Lansing each pitched an inning of scoreless relief. Perry evens their record at 1-1.
The Bluejays return to action next Thursday with the Raccoon River Conference opener at Boone.
