When we are out traveling around town we all know to yield to emergency response vehicles like ambulances, fire trucks and police cars.

It is also common courtesy and expected that we also yield to volunteer vehicles with blue, red and white lights in their vehicles.

Director of Operations for Stuart Rescue Jeff Howard says that we need to get as far right as possible come to a complete stop and not begin to accelerate until the emergency vehicle has passed you.

Not only is this to help the emergency response vehicles make it to their location in a timely manner, but it is to keep everyone safe.

Howard says to think about if that were your family member who needed emergency personnel there to assist, wouldn’t you want everyone to get out of the way.
