Greene County was a non-conference softball winner on Tuesday night in Jefferson over Prairie Valley (Gowrie) by a score of 8-0. The win was the sixth in a row for Tom Kennedy’s Rams and Greene County takes a season record of 9-2 into an important Heart of Iowa Activities Conference record tonight vs. league leader North Polk (Alleman).

Senior Jennifer Kennedy pitched the first three innings and sophomore Marissa Promes went the final four. Each girl allowed just one hit as they combined on a two-hit shut out.

The Rams had 10 hits and no errors while the Warriors were charged with nine errors. The Rams left 12 runners on base in their six at-bats.

Sophomore Emma Saddoris hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The blast was her first this season. Sophomores Hannah Onken and Promes each had two hits and eight of the nine Ram batters had at least one hit. Onken, Kennedy, Promes, and senior Mady Adamson each had a double.

The Greene County vs. North Polk game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on KG98 tonight.
