The second After Hours event put on by the business improvement committee of Jefferson Matters: Main Street last night.
The featured speaker was John Koester with Preservation Partner, LLC in Grimes. He talked about federal and state historic tax credits. The one huge benefit Koester pointed out was that every dollar spent, it would be paid back six dollars to the state economy and every five dollars to the local economy.
Jefferson Matters Board President Chris Henning describes a couple of goals that the business improvement committee aims to achieve with each After Hours event.
“The business improvements way of getting information about how businesses can improve not only their business but their buildings. And also get to know each other in a way that you don’t usually get to know each other if you’re a customer versus a retailer.”
There will be two more After Hours events held later this year in Jefferson.
