The Perry Bluejays 7th inning rally fell short last night losing to Boone 6-4 in RRC play. Perry led 3-0 going into the 6th inning, but Boone put together 3 hits and took advantage of 3 Perry errors in the frame to score 4 times and take the lead for good. The big hit was catcher Kendall Hilsabeck’s two run double to give the Torreadors the lead. Brett Slight smacked his 5th home run of the year in the 7th to give Boone a 6-3 lead. Perry cut it to 6-4 after a Will Whiton RBI single, but Ryan Sunstrom was able to strike out Nic Wilhelmi with the tying runs on base to end the game. Sunstrum shook off a shaky start to win his 4th game of the year. He finished with 10 strikeouts. Will Whiton falls to 0-5 on the season allowing only 2 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. Perry will travel to Stuart Saturday for the WCV tournament. Perry will play Missouri Valley at 10 am.
