The Guthrie County Family Development Center is starting a new program of mentoring for young area residents.

Coordinator Tiffany Baier says she is very excited to get started with the new mentoring program in Guthrie County.

At risk children between the ages of 5 and 17 will be paired up with adult role models.

Baier will be present at the initial meeting then the mentor and mentee will have the opportunity to do different activities

and hang out together.

Baier stated that they team up with New Opportunities and look for mentees that need an extra positive influence in

their life such as an adult to confide in. This will also help kids stay out of trouble and have an adult to talk to.

Once school starts the young people will have someone to help with homework as well as other school activities.

For more information, call Baier at 641-747-3845 or come by the office at 2002 State Street Suite 2 in Guthrie Center.
