Today Greene County residents are taking a trip to Emmetsburg to learn more about Wild Rose Casino.

Greene County Development Corporation Norm Fandel says this is another way that people can learn and compare similar counties and how casinos can affect them.

“We’re certainly taking a look at what happened in Palo Alto County and trying to run the stats as far as crime, whatever it may be plus the benefits of what has happened in Palo Alto County within the communities.”

There is a panel discussion period where participants can ask questions to invited guests like Emmetsburg’s city administrator, police chief, Iowa Lakes Community College representatives, the mayor and the city council.

Participants will be able to tour various sites in outlying communities along with Wild Rose Casino and visiting with several Emmetsburg businesses to gain personal knowledge of how a casino has impacted those places.
