We’re a week into July and the month is off to a dry start.

According to the National Weather Service, Jefferson has received 0.16 inches of rain so far and no precipitation has been recorded in Perry or Guthrie Center.

All three areas typically get around 4.5 inches in July.

Fortunately, we’re doing much better this year as far as getting enough precipitation.  After the first week of July 2012, Dallas and Guthrie Counties were classified as abnormally dry according to the National Climatic Data Center, and the majority of Greene County was already in a moderate drought.
