Dallas County residents are invited to a special program later this month where they will learn about Native American food plants.
USDA Agricultural Research Service plant biologist Steve Cannon will appear at the Forest Park Museum on Sunday July 28th.
Cannon studies soybeans, pea and clover plants and recently focused on a little-known Iowa bean relative that’s sometimes called the potato bean and was a long time staple for Native Americans.
The program will touch on the plant’s potential value especially as our climate changes.
Pre-registration is required for the event at 1:30pm July 28th.
To save your spot call the Conservation Board at 465-3577.
