unemploymentLocal unemployment rates increased in June, leaving Greene and Guthrie Counties with percentages higher than the state average for the first time since this spring.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County’s unemployment rate increased by 0.6% last month to 4% – which is still 0.7% less than this time last year.

Greene County’s unemployment rate increased from 4.6% in May to 4.9% in June.  That’s compared to 5.2% of residents being without a job in June of 2012.

Guthrie County saw a 0.7% increase last month, coming in at 4.8% unemployed, still less than the 5.5% during the same month last year.

Iowa’s unemployment rate remained steady at 4.6% in June, while the national unemployment rate is at 7.6%.
