The public is invited to a free event this weekend at Nick and Annette Foster’s family-owned farm in Jefferson.
The annual old-fashioned threshing bee celebration will be at Pleasant Prairie Farm at 1176 M Avenue.
Nick Foster says there will be four threshing demonstrations starting on Saturday at 10am and 2pm and on Sunday at 1pm and 3pm. Also on Saturday, Foster states there will be a freewill offering meal served at noon and a community barbecue meal served at 6pm with musical entertainment of the Pleasant Prairie Band performing and there will be a steam plow show featuring four steam plows at 4pm.
Then on Sunday, you can enjoy a tractor ride at 6:30am to Lohrville and be back before the first threshing show at 1pm that day. Plus, there will be antique tractor and truck shows going on both days.
Foster says he has long-time family roots dating back to 1900 and it’s his interest in his family’s lineage that’s kept this 14-year tradition of giving the public a chance to step back in history and learn about the way agriculture was done in the early days.
Foster wants to thank everyone in the community, especially his family , Four County Antique Tractor Club and the Greene County Historical Society for the generous support to continue to have the free event for the public to enjoy every year.
