DIG into Reading LogoAs part of the final party for the children’s summer reading program, the Greene County libraries will be hosting various animals from the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines next week.

Jefferson Library Director Jane Millard says the final party for the summer reading program, ‘Dig Into Reading” is a way to congratulate the kids on reading and participating in different activities and completing tasks throughout the summer.

She comments that some of the staff from the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines will be at each of the six libraries in Greene County, starting in Jefferson on Monday.  She talks about what they will be showing while they’re here.

“The Blank Park Zoo will be bringing I believe three different exotic animals for the children to learn about at the final program.  And I think those animals will have something to do with underground.”

She points out that the public is invited to the event at 10am on Monday at the United Methodist Church in Jefferson.  They will also be at the Scranton Library at 11:30am and at Grand Junction Library at 1pm.  On Tuesday, the Blank Park Zoo goes to Churdan Library at 10am, the Paton Library at 11:30am and the Rippey Library at 1pm.

Millard would like to thank the Greene County Supervisors for sponsoring the free event.
