The Jefferson Municipal Pool will soon be an even cooler place to hang out this summer.
Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says a permanent metal shade structure will be built between the pool and concession stand area for anyone to cool off from the summer heat.
She states that the 10-foot by 20-foot structure was recently approved by the Parks and Rec Board because there was a need for people that wanted shade when they weren’t in the pool. Lautner notes that they wanted a permanent, sturdy structure that could be left up all year round.
A Jefferson-based company, Welding Innovations received the lowest bid for $3,980 which Lautner says was supported partial donations from the Jefferson Kiwanis and Rotary clubs along with fund from hotel/motel tax.
Lautner is hopefully that the project will be completed before the end of this summer.
