A business that started earlier this year in Jefferson provides a unique twist and has helped to grow the local economy.
Co-owners Rich and Reagan Osbourne of Green Bean Coffee first opened its doors in Jefferson just after Market-To-Market Relay in May.
What started as a home-based business of roasting and selling their own coffee beans has now turned into a one-of-a-kind coffee shop with personal touches. Rich Osbourne explains one part of the decor.
“The original property that brought us to Greene County, had a barn on it that blew down when RAGBRAI came to town. The counter is one of the curved roof rafters of it and we’ve scavenged a lot of other wood from that property and used in different projects in here.”
Along with bringing parts of their property in to decorate their location, they’ve also brought in more jobs to the community.
Osbourne comments that since they’ve opened, they’ve hired four new employees which helps Jefferson’s job market and provides for a growing economy.
