Feedback from Monday’s overnight RAGBRAI stay seem to be positive overall.
City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says the storm hit at the worst possible time, but still most people have good things to say about Perry.
“Overall the comments I’ve been receiving from participants and riders was that they really liked Perry and Perry was doing a good job” says Niebuhr. “And then I think the volunteers even though it was pretty stressful going in it was well manned and well planned, I don’t think there was a lot of surprises.”
Niebuhr says the visitors were polite and did well picking up after themselves.
“That lot (by the old junior high) was cleaner when they left than when they came and that’s the way the parks were. All the garbage in all the parks and all of our camping areas that we used and all the open areas were cleaned up before noon on Tuesday, and that’s amazing” says Niebuhr.
Niebuhr says Kevin Canalley with the parks department told him he would rather have the whole week of RAGBRAI over events like the 4th of July because the RAGBRAI riders are respectful and clean up their areas much better than those who spend the 4th in Perry.
