dc conservationThere’s always something new to check out at the Dallas County Conservation Board’s Forest Park Museum in Perry.

Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says they currently have artifacts from an artist that many might not realize has ties to Iowa.

“Gabriel DeSilva, who is a well known Hawaiian artist, who is from the Spanish Harlem but spent summers in Iowa and has very fond memories of here, he’s been sending me paintings.  Really nice paintings, so we have those.  He actually has quite a name internationally now” says Malmberg.

Plus Malmberg is already working on new exhibits for the spring.

“I am working with a couple other projects too.  We have Mike Lynch coming this next spring. So that’ll be wonderful, he’s one of the 40 or so top cartoonists in the country.  Vanity Fair, Readers Digest… all of those are his clients.  He’ll be coming out to spend a couple days here in Perry doing a school assembly program, and a reception downtown and a couple other events, so that’ll be great” says Malmberg.
