The month of July was the biggest month of assistance ever given to area families for the Stuart Cottage Pantry.
Director Marlis Beeler says that ‘part of the reason numbers were up is because there were five Wednesdays in the month and we had quite a few new families, as well as more home deliveries.’

135 families were served in total, which included 365 individuals. There were 14 home deliveries completed this month, which is almost double of last month, with 161 volunteer hours and West Central Valley student volunteer hours were at 13 1/2.
The students that helped were Jessica Pieper, Becky Jones, Elizabeth Urquhart, and Dylan Wells and the Pantry really appreciated their help.
The hours at the center are Wednesdays from 2-5 pm and the second and forth Saturday of each month from 9-11 am.
The pantry is still low on paper products and the items that they usually need are sugar, flour, quart size freezer bags, condiments, as well as soap of all kinds and laundry detergent.
If you know of someone in need please contact Marlis Beeler at 515-523-1301 or Vi Jones at 515-523-1350.
The Pantry serves the West Central Valley district: Dexter, Menlo, Redfield and Stuart.
