The Greene County School Board of Directors met last night in regular session.

Superintendent Tim Christensen pointed out that the Voted Physical Plant and Equipment levy will be on the ballot during regular school board elections on September 10th for the Greene County School District.

President Sam Harding said that the last time Jefferson-Scranton had a Voted PPEL was in the mid-1990’s when remodeling happened at the current middle school in Jefferson.  He further stated that these funds are strictly used to maintain facilities and not used on teacher salaries or curriculum changes.

Currently, 60-70% of Jefferson-Scranton SILO funds are being used to pay off the renovations made to the elementary building which is scheduled to be completely paid off by 2022.

Another point made during the meeting was the the majority of the Voted PPEL would come from income surtax where it is 13% of your taxes not from your total income.

The next step is to educate the public about the facts and figures associated with Voted PPEL before it is put to a vote in September.
