ADMThe last of the postseason baseball honors have been announced as we’ve previously reported on Raccoon Valley Radio with the Class 3A All-State team selections from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Today we reveal the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn players and there were four of them with three on the first team and one on the second team.

Making first team is senior pitcher Dylan Nelson, junior catcher Logan Essy and senior utility position in Kyle Herrick.

For Nelson, it was pretty much a no-brainer to make him a first team honoree.  The Missouri Three Rivers Community College to-be pitcher wrapped his senior season leading the Raccoon River Conference in strikeouts with 101, nine better than Ballard’s Coy Baker.  In 11 starts, he managed a 9-1 record with 1.06 earned-run-average.

Essy and Herrick both had outstanding seasons.  The Tiger backstop in Essy led the conference in most offensive categories including RBI’s with 37, tied for the most doubles with Nelson at 19 and second most hits behind second team selection in Grant Goeden with 57 while batting .442.

Herrick’s year was consistent both in the field defensively and at the plate.  He ended up with a .376 batting average, with 44 hits, 29 RBI’s and 11 doubles.

Junior Grant Goeden made the Class 3A second team All-State list as a utility player.  ADM’s leadoff man will return next year after having a successful junior campaign with a .420 average, leading the conference in hits with 58 and stealing 21 bases this season.

Conference Coach of the Year Jason Book says it’s another tribute to the hard work that all of his players put in for the season and he’s proud of each of his players.
