The Cyclists of Greene invites everyone to another full moon bike ride in Jefferson on Wednesday.

Participants will meet at the Jefferson Depot by the Raccoon River Valley Trailhead at 7pm and will ride eight miles to Cooper as the sun is setting and then ride back to Jefferson under a full moon with refreshments provided at the Depot at the end of the bike ride.

President of the Cyclists of Greene and Jefferson Mayor Craig Berry says about 20-30 people have been coming to the monthly event that started in April.  He comments that there’s a lot that happens on the bike trail at night that you don’t get during the day.

“The last couple of rides we went on, there were a lot of bats, but they didn’t come close and of course there’s a lot more bugs and stuff.  It’s interesting because you get a little different perspective when you’re riding with a headlight on rather than being able to see that far.”

The full moon bike rides has reached its midway point of the season.  They will have their final bike ride in October and their final event will be in December.
