As summer begins to wind down, the Jefferson Municipal Pool will remain open for the rest of the month at reduced hours.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says that starting today, pool hours will be 11:30am-1pm for lap swimming and will reopen from 4-8pm on school days.  The pool will be open during regular hours on the weekend.

She states that this has been a pretty great season considering the cooler than normal summer temperatures.  Lautner reports that 3,011 people used the pool in July while 2,641 people visited in June and due to a wet May, only 79 people were at the pool.

Swimming lessons were another big hit.  There were a total of 163 participants in the two sessions and the free lessons sponsored by Home State Bank.

She says they’ve had several events at the pool this year with one of their biggest events coming up on the last day the pool will be on which is Sunday, September 1st for the annual Doggie Paddle Day.
