ADMFootball season is finally here and ADM’s regular season-opener is a week from tomorrow against rival Dallas-Center Grimes.  But that won’t be the team’s first game of the season.

The Tigers travel to Norwalk tomorrow night for a scrimmage against the Norwalk Warriors at 7 p.m.  The preseason tune-up will be the ideal way for the teams’ offenses and defenses to practice certain game-like situations according to ADM Defensive Coordinator Bric Nelson.

This is the first year under new Iowa High School Athletic Association rules that schools are allowed to have a scrimmage with another school prior to the first legal playing date.

Nelson says the two schools agreed to scrimmage each other because of the cordial relationship and respect between coachings staffs.

Any fans planning to head to Norwalk for the game shouldn’t be alarmed when the ball is suddenly walked up to inside the 20-yard line.  That’s so each team can work on its red zone and goal line plays from both sides of the ball.

Nelson says he’s eager to see how players competing for positions will respond to the game-like atmosphere, and hopes players will be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

ADM last faced Norwalk during the 2011 campaign, winning that game at home 42 to 13.

We’ll have game one coverage of ADM football next Friday, right here on Raccoon Valley Radio.
