cargillCargill Kitchen Solutions in Panora closed its doors back in April, but there appears to be interest from companies looking to purchase the site.

Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck says  they’re working with Cargill and a broker to bring in potential buyers.  Four groups have toured the facility so far.

A company based out of Washington state has shown particular interest in recent months.  They visited the site in early June and again just a few days ago.

“We do have a company that has us in their top three right now.  They’re looking at that place.  They actually are a food manufacturer, food processor.  Can’t go into too many details on them, but right now actually they had an engineer in town looking at the facility, trying to do a cost-benefit analysis and compare that to the other sites they’re looking at.  We’re hoping to have some good information on that here in the next month or two and we’re just gonna keep pressing on that and hopefully get somebody in that facility soon.”

When the plant closed back in April, 55 employees were forced to find new work or relocate after Cargill consolidated and decided to move production to Big Lake, Minnesota.

This food-processing company would bring in between 20-25 jobs to Panora if the former Cargill site is selected.

Midwest Partnership says it will continue to work with any interested buyers to fill the property and replace the jobs lost.
