Greene County Community CenterThe Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met yesterday in its regular monthly session.

The Board discussed four options for replacing all the lights and the fixtures in the Greene County Community Center with two options having LED’s.  It was decided that Chris Durlam of Durlam Electric come in a make a formal presentation to the Board before any action takes place.  There are 36 fixtures that the Board is looking to replace.

The Board then discussed replacing cement around the concession stand area of the pool.  Director Vicky Lautner says two bids came in for the project and the Board recommended that John McConnell would receive the project and that will be brought to the city council at their next meeting.

The Board talked about purchasing a new pool vacuum.  The current vacuum is a Dolphin model.  The Board received two bids, both from ACCO Unlimited Corporation from Johnston and will be recommending to the city council to purchase a DuraMax Duo Jr.  The decision was because the DuraMax Duo is more durable and has a longer, reduced warranty rate.

The Board also discussed purchasing a new winch and cable for some of the basketball hoops in the gym.  AAI/Spalding will be replacing those with the money to come out of the parks and recreation’s maintenance funds.
