This week Union Pacific Railroad will be closing two of five railroad crossings in Jefferson for repairs.
Police Chief Dave Morlan says UP will send its repair crew called Road Safe to replace old, wooden railroad ties on Maple and Pinet street crossings. He comments that the other three crossings, Wilson, Cedar and Grimmell will have flaggers at those locations to help direct traffic.
Chief Morlan notes that work will begin this week and may go into the beginning of next week.
Maple and Pinet crossings will be closed during the duration of the project from 7am-5:30pm.
