Mostly positive news in the Raccoon River Valley in terms of employment.

The percentage of workers without a job in Dallas and Guthrie County decreased in July and increased just slightly in Greene County.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County’s unemployment rate is 3.8 percent.  That’s down two-tenths over the June percentage and seven-tenths lower than last year.

Greene County’s unemployment has been relatively steady, coming in at 5 percent in July, 4.9 percent in June and 5.1 percent this time last year.

Guthrie County saw a half percent decrease in unemployment last month with 4.3 percent.  Almost a full percentage lower than July of 2012.

The statewide unemployment rate was up slightly to 4.8 percent in July and the 7.4 percent of Americans are currently without a job.
