Fresh off raising $4,500 at its “Meet the Players Night” fundraiser last weekend, the West Central Valley Booster Club is back at it in the fundraising department.
Booster Club President Brenda Dudley says the latest effort involves the school’s 137 year-old Victory Bell, which has been used to announce athletic victories in Stuart for 78 years, as it moves from the high school to the new athletic complex.
“We’re trying to sell bricks, engraved bricks that will be placed on the ground around the victory bell. We’re selling those for $100 and we’re hoping that people buy a brick for their student, or maybe a memory of somebody or just the family name on it.”
Dudley says the goal is to get as many people from the past, present and future as possible to have their names associated with the bricks.
Bricks will be 4” by 8” and allow for one to three lines of engraving with up to 18 characters per line. Donations for the fundraiser are tax deductible.
Monies raised and the funds received at “Meet the Players Night” will go toward providing tables and trash cans for the new athletic complex. Leftover funds will be used continually throughout the year to help provide athletes and coaches with whatever equipment is needed during the season.
