Dr. David Arnold, Superintendent of the West Central Valley Community School District, says the first School Board meeting of the 2013-14 academic year went smoothly on Wednesday night.
Arnold says a majority of the meeting was spent discussing the latest progress of the construction on the new athletic complex next to the high school. Board members were able to tour the facility prior to the meeting and a final “punch list” walk through will take place this evening to see what finishing touches need to be made before the football complex is officially opened.
Arnold says things are right on schedule for the complex’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. next Friday before the first West Central Valley football game that night.
The bus barn septic tank issue was briefly discussed, but the Board decided to revisit the topic during next month’s meeting, as it wants to see how much money will be available in the athletic complex construction budget. Arnold says there is still $109,000 remaining in that budget, and the Board has other priorities to take care of before the bus barn issue is addressed.
The West Central Valley School Board will meet again on September 18th at Dexter Elementary.
