The City of Granger will soon be able to digitize historic documents thanks to a grant from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.
Granger was selected to receive $5,000 for a project that will make digital copies of old ledgers and documents to help suit both city staff and the public. The money will also be used to purchase archival storage supplies so that the old documents can be stories safely for years to come.
The State Historical Society, which is a division of the DCA administers the Historical Resource Development Program, which awarded 25 grants totaling more than $640,000 this year. All grants require matching funds and aim to preserve, conserve, interpret and educate the public about historical resources.
