Greene County ChamberThe Greene County Chamber Board met on Wednesday in regular session.

Treasurer Keith Peterson reported that for the first time in two months, the chamber’s finances were on the positive end.  He said it was because they kept their expenses low and they didn’t spend as much on the Bell Tower Festival this year as in years past.

Executive Director of Greene County Development Ken Paxton updated the Board on several events.  He will be traveling to Chicago in a couple of weeks for another site selector meeting with about 50 representatives.  There will be a six month follow up meeting with the Greene County Leadership participants and a career fair will be at the Greene County High School on October 15th.

Director of Greene County Chamber, Tourism and Events Chris Henning made several updates.  She said that the Chamber golf tournament, Hot August Night, Iowa Bike Festival and PIGS event, along with the city wide garage sales were all very successful.  There were about 20 locations for last weekend’s garage sales in Jefferson.

She told the Board that Channel 13’s RVTV will be in Jefferson on September 10th doing live newscasts as part of their tailgate event leading up to Iowa and Iowa State football game on Saturday, September 14th.  And the Red Barn Home and Craft Show scheduled for September 21st already has 40 reserved booths and is still taking reservations for the event.

President Pete Russell appointed Angie Pederson as the Board’s vice-president and is asking for committee members for next year’s Bell Tower Festival.  She added that interested individuals can call the chamber for information at 386-2155.
