imagesTonight is a big night in the world of West Central Valley athletics.

A nearly two year process is finally complete, as the new football complex will open its doors to the public tonight in the Wildcats’ first game of the season against Osceola’s Clarke High School.

West Central Valley Athletic Director Todd Broman says he couldn’t be happier with the new facility.

“It’s kinda like a dream come true.  We had good facilities, especially we had a good football field in the past, but it was really showing its age around the edges.  It’s hard to believe that a simple question posted to the school board two years ago led to the actual development of this project.  I believe it’s just going to be a shining jewel in this part of the state.  It’s really gonna be a feather in the cap for the West Central Valley School District.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony begins tonight at 6:30, and Broman will have members of the School Board, Superintendent Dr. David Arnold and Booster Club President Brenda Dudley all there to participate.

Also part of the ceremony, Broman says the high school cross country team will run from the old field to the new complex to present tonight’s game ball.

And finally, the American Legion Posts in Stuart, Menlo, Dexter and Redfield will provide a color guard presentation to inaugurate the stadium before kick-off.

UPDATE:

Due to the heat, tonight’s ribbon-cutting ceremony has been pushed back an hour to 7:30pm.  Kick-off will follow at 8.
