The Stuart Chamber of Commerce held their September meeting Tuesday.

The meeting began by discussing the upcoming Scoop the Loop event this Saturday.  An estimated $3 million worth of cars showed up for the last Scoop the Loop in July, and the Chamber is expecting a similar turnout this weekend.

Chamber member Nate Westre also emphasized the need to spread the word about the tribute to Stuart Fire and Rescue at the elementary school prior to the main event.  The tribute begins at 4:30 in the afternoon.  stuart2

Next, the Chamber approved the motion to purchase a two-year subscription that will allow for continued use of the digital sign outside of Stuart City Hall at the main intersection in town.

Finally, Attorney Warren Varley motioned for the Chamber to approve the new articles of incorporation for the organization. Varley recently received a letter from the Iowa Secretary of State saying that the “Stuart Chamber of Commerce” technically no longer exists.

All members of the Chamber approved the motion unanimously.  The new articles must be signed by President Cheryl Marks and Vice President Sarah Gomez before October 22nd, or the organization will be completely dissolved.

The Chamber will meet at Ruby’s Pub on October 2nd for its next meeting.
