banner2We are almost a month into the school year and for the Greene County High School band, they will be competing in their first marching band competition this weekend.

Director Becky Greiner says her 71 students will be in Fort Dodge this Saturday at Dodger Stadium for a clinic and field competition.

She states that they will start the day with a 90-minute clinic getting suggestions for improvement on marching fundamentals and how to make their show better.  Then at 6pm, they will perform on the football field and receive a ranking of one through seven.

Greiner comments that they are performing a “hard rock” show this year with selections from Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”, Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”, Golden Earring’s “Radar Love” and Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”.

She points out that the students enjoy playing this type of music but she believes that at the end of every marching season, they are ready to move on to concert and jazz bands.

Everyone is invited to watch the Greene County Rams perform in Fort Dodge tomorrow.
