The Panora Public Library has many events and activities coming up in the month of October for local residents to get involved in.
On Friday, October 18th at 9:30am, local author Cheryl Mullenbach will be talking about her newest book, “Double Victory.” The book discusses the role of African American women during World War II, and how their actions helped break race and gender barriers en route to American victory in the war.
Library Director Kim Finnegan encourages local teens to stop in the library during Teen Read Week from October 13th to the 19th to get a library card. Teen Read Week has been part of a national adolescent literacy initiative since 1998.
Finnegan also says the library is in the midst of applying for a grant with Iowa Library Services. ILS is accepting applications for grants of up to $1,500 from libraries that will use technology to “improve the lives of Iowans,” according to Finnegan.
Finnegan says grant monies received would be used by the library to purchase a new set of computers for the public to use. Applications for the grant are due the first of November.
