greene county medical centerAt the Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustee’s meeting last week, the Board gave approval to get bids out on a staff parking lot expansion project.

Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne says there are 43 existing parking spots for staff and the expansion would be on the northwest corner where current staff parking is located.

He explains that the reason why there needs to be additional parking for staff is due to the building expansion project.

“We will be removing a large section of our employee parking lot for the building (expansion project) and then also for patient parking.  And so current locations where employees park will not be available and so this expansion allows us to keep our timeline on point for the groundbreaking (and) have parking ready and able for staff to utilize in the spring.”

Behne states that the project will cost about $200,000 with the money to come out of the hospitals capital improvement funds.  The project will add another 75 parking spots and Behne hopes to have bids in and the project underway by early October with groundbreaking for the building expansion project to be next March.
