After taking his oath of office on Monday at the Guthrie Center School Board meeting, Wes Policky is officially the Board’s newest member.
But it might take him some time to fully step into the role being vacated by longtime Board member Curt Sloss. Policky says Sloss has been an invaluable resource in helping him transition to his new role within the community.
“Curt’s been very instrumental in helping me get prepped, and we’ve had a number of conversations about what to expect. Talked about some of the financial stuff, and really about how to carry yourself in the community because it is an important position.”
Policky says he received a surprise gift from Sloss after Monday’s meeting that will help him get acclimated to school board dealings in the weeks and months ahead.
“It was funny, after the meeting he dropped off all of his files with me, which was probably about 20 pounds heavy, so I’ve got plenty to look through. He’s been extremely helpful and available to answer any of my questions.”
Policky says he looks forward to continuing to learn from Sloss and doing whatever necessary to keep making the Guthrie Center School District a great place for children in the area to get a quality education.
Tune in to tomorrow’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County during the 9am, noon and 5 o’clock hours for our full conversation with Policky about his decision to get involved with the school board and more.
