Registrations for the second annual Iowa Market-To-Market Relay begins today.

An event that starts in downtown Jefferson and ends in downtown Des Moines and covers 75 miles on the Raccoon River Valley Trail and brought over 1,500 from 165 towns and representing 18 states returns for a second year.

The Market-To-Market Relay started in Nebraska six years ago and last year it made its debut in Iowa.

There are several divisions for each seven-person team including an open division, mixed, women’s masters, mixed masters, women master’s, corporate and academic.

Bigger and better plans are in the works to kick-off the race in Jefferson which last year featured musical entertainment and a meal served the night before and then on race day, the high school played music and there were several people dressed up in costumes and everyone had a fun time.
