An Adel man was killed and another injured in a single vehicle crash around midnight Wednesday near Minburn.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 34 year-old Nakia Williams was traveling westbound on County Road F31 when he failed to negotiate a turn near 1st Street.  His 1998 Chevrolet Malibu then left the roadway and struck a tree.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the medical examiner’s office via Dallas County Ambulance.  His passenger, 32 year-old Justin Merical was also injured in the crash.  He was transported via Mercy One helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. The accident report shows both men were wearing their seat belts.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
