There are many Halloween events this weekend throughout Guthrie County, one of them being this Saturday at Carver’s Ridge in Stuart.
The business will have its 4th annual “Rocktoberbest” from 10am to 5pm Saturday, and owner Anne Greenwalt hopes to see all local families and their kids at the event.
Greenwalt says the event is not only a great way for area residents to get some holiday shopping done early, but also a way to promote the great qualities of small business in rural Iowa.
“We’re all about small business. Both Tice (my husband) and I come from families who had small businesses so we just love showing that you don’t have to go to a big city all the time to find wonderful, unique gifts or even partake in activities. So what a great way to have people come out and just have a good time and show them what small business is all about.”
Carver’s Ridge actually burned down at Christmas-time last year and ultimately had to rebuild in its new location. Ever since it reopened this summer, Greenwalt says the community’s response has been fantastic.
“It’s been great, we’ve had a lot of community support and the word just kinda keeps spreading about us so that’s wonderful for us. Everybody is always just so nice when they come in, and if they were here before and if they’ve come in since the fire, we’ve just had a wonderful response from them about how we’ve opened stronger and better than before.”
