The popular holiday gift program for kids and families in Perry continues again this year and donations are now being collected.

Shop with a Cop has been around for several years now.  It started with about five officers and families in Perry and has since expected to more than 30 families and assistance from several different agencies.

The program provides $125 to each family selected.  A child from each family is then taken shopping in Perry to purchase Christmas gifts for their family members and themselves before returning to the police department and wrapping the presents for Christmas morning.

Other donations from the community also allow the program to send a full Christmas dinner home for each family as well.

Donations are now being accepted and every little bit helps.  The police department hopes to have all donations turned in by the end of November so they can determine how many families will be chosen to benefit from the program.

Contributions can be dropped off at the police department or mailed to 908 Willis Avenue.
