Riley BrehenyOne young student-athlete will represent Greene County High School at the Special Olympics State Bowling Tournament in Des Moines later this month.

Rylie Breheny won her age group in the female division at October North Central Area bowling competition in Fort Dodge.

One of the team coaches, Jeri Gettler was proud of the junior’s accomplishment and that every time they take kids to compete in the Special Olympics, its all about creating positive sportsmanship.

“She was excited.  She bowled with boys and girls that she’s never met and they encouraged her to do her best.  When she got first place, they were so excited and congratulated her.  So this is her first place of being in first place.”

Gettler points out that all the students they took with them to the state bowling qualifier all did a great job and it was a chance for some of them to meet up with friends they’ve seen in the past.

The state competition will be on November 23rd in Des Moines.
