Greene County SheriffAt 9:18pm on Friday, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle fire at Neese, Incorporated at 303 Division Street East in Grand Junction.

Fire Chief Mark Renslow says when his department arrived on scene, one of the service trucks was fully engulfed in flames.  It also did damage to two other service trucks along with burning a hole in the roof of a tarp-covered building.

He describes what he believes the cause of the fire to be.

“We’re thinking now right at the moment that it’s probably got some corn stalks shoved up underneath the motor because that truck was in the corn field most of the day.  And it’s sat in there probably a good hour and a half before it ignited so it probably just smoldered and smoldered until it finally took off.”

Chief Renslow reports that no one was injured in the fire and the one fully engulfed service truck is estimated to be a total loss.
